About the mural "Needs and Whimsies" dedicated Monday, April 20th 2009, 11:00am

The City of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Arts Commission sponsored this Artist Residency which involved designing the mural and facilitating its creation with the staff and artists of Opportunity Village Art Enrichment Program. To accommodate the participation of the Opportunity Village artists, the mural was created at their Opportunity Village facility on eight 4' x 8' plywood panels. It was installed at the top of the external south wall of the Opportunity Village Thrift Store spanning 64 feet.

Maquette:  Actual size is 4' high x 64' long - eight 4' x 8' wood panels with 3-D elements


Progress:  The large gold areas will each accommodate an original piece created by an Opportunity Village artist. The darker blue shadows will accomodate other 3-D elements to be attached just prior to installment.
